The Control 1 is a high performance personal monitor loudspeaker. Incorporating a 5¼" (135 mm) low frequency loudspeaker, 3/4” (19 mm) high frequency radiator and high performance dividing network, the Control 1 provides full-range, low distortion reproduction in a variety of applications. A tough, injection-molded cabinet, compact and durable, the Control 1 performs equally well in recording studios, mobile audio video control rooms and broadcast studios. It is also highly suitable for foreground and background music use in restaurants, discotheques, and audio-visual applications. HF and LF transducers are magnetically shielded, permitting the Control 1 to be used in close proximity to video monitors. Well balanced sound and exceptional power handling make the Control 1 ideal for any installation requiring professional control monitor performance from a compact source. Small-footprint, personal-size monitor with rugged, moulded enclosure brings the music anywhere it's needed, including the home or office. The JBL Control 1
System consists of two very small satellite speakers, made from a tough, moulded
plastic. Both ends have a strip of rubber attached. A midrange driver, 85
mm in diameter and made of coated paper, with a
foam surround, is accompanied by a 23 mm tweeter. A port, 20 mm in diameter,
is positioned beside the tweeter. All this is protected by a fine wire mesh
grille.
A simple crossover network is activated through two spring-loaded connectors
recessed into the rear baffle.
The subwoofer is a bevel-edged box, measuring 555 mm long, 288 mm wide, and
172 mm deep. It is
covered with a black vinyl wrap veneer, and has a silver stripe along its edge.
